Case: Natural Gas Import

Inteligência

A natural gas contract and the plans of a multinational float glass company to install a new plant in southern Brazil.

In 2001, we were hired to ensure that our client´s natural gas supply would be absolutely reliable, since a float glass kiln, which costs $ 100 million, can not be stopped during its lifetime (12 years). In addition, since natural gas has significant representativity in the final cost of the product, we had to find the best cost-benefit ratio in terms of the gas contract. After contextualizing the situation, we came to the conclusion that the direct purchase of Bolivian natural gas would be the best alternative, causing the reduction in gas prices to be around 50%. Thus, we obtained the first National Petroleum Agency import authorization for an end consumer in Brazil.
